“You can only cherish love when you have some hatred towards each other. And we were sworn enemies at one point," Twisha Sharma’s husband said in a wedding video, shot professionally.

A nearly six-minute wedding teaser of Noida resident Twisha Sharma and her husband, Bhopal-based Samarth Singh, now stands in stark contrast to the bitter legal battle unfolding after her death, NDTV reported.

Nothing in the video hints at the tragedy that would follow just months later.

The video captures cheerful moments from the wedding festivities, with friends and family members speaking warmly about the couple, sharing anecdotes, jokes and playful remarks. In one such moment, a relative from the groom’s side says, “Jiju (brother-in-law) may be a lawyer in court, but at home Twisha would remain the judge."

After Twisha Sharma’s death, both families are locked in a bitter confrontation after a dowry death case was registered. The only mention of a “judge" in the wedding video refers to retired judge Giribala Singh, the groom’s mother, who is now among the accused in the case.

Throughout the video, the newly married couple are seen exchanging light-hearted conversations and speaking about their future together.

After Twisha’s death, her mother-in-law alleged that the young woman’s behaviour, upbringing and conduct after marriage were problematic. Among the claims made were allegations that she had undergone an abortion “of her own choice" and had been undergoing psychiatric treatment and counselling.

Twisha Sharma’s family has continued to accuse the police of lapses in the investigation, alleging that Samarth Singh’s “influential family" is “abusing" the system to affect the probe. The family has also said it would challenge the interim bail granted to Giribala Singh before the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Ashish Sharma, Twisha’s cousin, claimed that CCTV footage presented in court should have been used by the police to strengthen the investigation, but alleged that the accused were instead in possession of all the clips.

“The court also should have raised questions over this," Ashish said.

He also expressed concern that delays in the case could eventually push it out of public attention.

For now, the wedding video remains the last shared happy memory between the two families, preserved in time.
