Exit Poll West Bengal 2026: The battle of West Bengal appears to be tilting towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with exit poll projections indicating the saffron camp to be in a strong position to form the next government in the state.
According to the projections released by Matrize, the BJP is estimated to win between 146 and 161 seats. The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) is projected to secure around 120 to 140 seats, while other parties may secure approximately 6 to 10 seats.
Votevibe-CNN News18 Favours BJP
The exit poll conducted by VoteVibe for CNN-News18 (for phase 1) also places the BJP ahead. According to the projections, the BJP is projected to win between 88 and 98 of the 152 seats in this phase, with a midpoint of 93, while the TMC+ alliance is expected to secure 51 to 61 seats (midpoint 56). The Congress is likely to remain marginal with 2 to 4 seats.
The projections suggest the BJP has a structural advantage in Phase 1, driven by strong support among SC, ST, OBC and upper-caste Hindu voters, and is leading across most zones except Malda, where the TMC retains dominance due to its consolidated Muslim voter base.
What Both Surveys Indicate?
Both the exit poll surveys point to a clear advantage for the BJP in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, though with varying degrees of dominance. The Matrize projection suggests a strong statewide performance by the BJP, placing it well ahead in the race to form government with a comfortable seat margin over the Trinamool Congress.
Meanwhile, the VoteVibe-CNN News18 estimates show that the BJP is leading in a majority of seats in the first phase, backed by broad-based support among key social groups and across most regions.
Both surveys indicate momentum in favour of the BJP; the narrower margins in phase-wise data also highlight that the contest remains competitive and could still be influenced by shifts in the second phase.
Exit polls are based on post-voting surveys and should be treated as indicative rather than final. The actual verdict will emerge only when votes are counted.
