Chicago Cubs star Pete Crow Armstrong found himself in the middle of a heated moment with a fan during Sunday’s game against the Chicago White Sox, and the exchange quickly went viral on TV and social media comments.
The incident happened in the fifth inning when Crow Armstrong ran toward the fence in right center field trying to make a difficult catch. He could not hold onto the ball, which allowed White Sox player Miguel Vargas to tie the game at 4-4. Just seconds later, a female fan sitting close to the field started shouting abuse at him from behind the fence.Videos from the stadium showed the fan yelling “you suck” while giving Pete Crow Armstrong a thumbs down gesture.
The Cubs outfielder, clearly frustrated after missing the play, turned around and fired back with an angry vulgar response before walking away. The clip spread fast online, with many fans reacting to the heated war of words between the baseball star and the female fan.The game itself also ended badly for the Cubs, who lost 9-8 to their city rivals in a dramatic matchup. After the game, Pete Crow Armstrong spoke briefly about the incident and admitted he responded because the fan started talking trash toward him first.
