Days after allegedly strangling his 24-year-old girlfriend and violating her body, accused Piyush Dhamnotia showed no remorse. Smiling, he told India Today, "What had to happen has happened," and declined to explain further as police escorted him from a station in Indore.

The accused (right) searched the internet and YouTube for ways to communicate with spirits after he killed his girlfriend.
Days after strangling his 24-year-old girlfriend to death and subsequently violating her body, the accused, Piyush Dhamnotia, showed no remorse when asked why he committed the act.
Instead, a smile appeared on the side of his lips, and, seeming unrepentant, he told India Today: "Forget everything. What had to happen has happened. What will you do by knowing?"
When pressed further, he gave a few cold stares and then said he would tell everyone when the time came, as he was taken away in a police jeep from outside a local police station in Indore.
The crime came to light on February 13, when the victim’s rotting, naked body was found in a rented room in Indore’s Dwarkapuri area. The accused was arrested a day later.
The discovery was made after neighbours complained of a foul smell, prompting police to respond. When officers broke open the door, they found the woman with rope marks visible around her neck.
The two individuals reportedly knew each other from their time as students and had frequent disagreements, often stemming from the woman’s desire to get married.
According to police findings, arguments about marriage frequently occurred between the two.
On February 10, the accused allegedly brought the woman to his rented accommodation to resolve their differences.
Police said the two had physical relations, but another argument broke out over marriage. This dispute escalated to violence, resulting in the woman's death.
During interrogation, authorities learned that the accused felt insecure whenever his girlfriend interacted with other men.
During probe, the accused revealed that he had tied the girl’s hands and feet and stuffed her mouth with tape so she could not scream. The accused then strangled her with a rope.
Post-incident, the accused remained in the room, consuming alcohol next to the body.
He subsequently fled to Panvel and allegedly used the victim’s phone to send videos portraying her in a bad light.
Police said digital evidence, call detail records and forensic findings are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
