New Delhi: So finally, after much experimentation, WhatsApp is officially introducing the latest paid subscription tier for users called WhatsApp Plus, bringing additional customization features to the messaging platform. WhatsApp Plus will enable users to customize the application with custom themes and icons, extra pinned chats, personalized ringtones, exclusive stickers, and advanced chat list customization options.

This feature is now rolling out to a limited number of Android and iPhone users after earlier beta testing. The latest premium plan is currently limited to iOS users in Europe and Mexico. WhatsApp Plus is an optional, subscription-based feature that unveils visual customization features and a few extra convenience tools.

Subscription does not change the core WhatsApp experience, which means messaging, voice and video calls, status updates, and end-to-end encryption will remain free for all users. The paid plan primarily targets users interested in personalization-focused.

WhatsApp Plus now supports custom interface colors. Users will get access to 18 accent colors that replace WhatsApp’s default green theme across the application. The subscription has also been reported to include 14 alternate application icons, offering different styles ranging from minimalist outlines to more artistic and glitter-inspired designs.

Plus subscriptions add access to the premium sticker packs with special effects. Recipients can reportedly view these animated stickers even if they are not subscribed to the service.

However, regular WhatsApp users can pin only three chats; WhatsApp Plus users can pin up to 20 chats. The subscription also adds extra ringtone options for the users’ important contacts. Users might also get the ability to apply themes, ringtone settings, and notification preferences across multiple chats in bulk rather than changing them one by one.

However, some reports claim WhatsApp Plus currently costs €2.49 per month (roughly Rs 279.83) in parts of Europe and MXN 29 in Mexico, although pricing might vary depending on the region. Some users might also see free trial offers lasting one week or one month.
