New Delhi: WhatsApp has started to develop the latest chat themes features for its web version. This upgrade is expected to unveil up to 49 color options by enabling users to customize chats with different themes, wallpapers, and styles directly from the browser.

Once it is available, the feature might make conversations more personalized and easier to distinguish by bringing WhatsApp Web closer to the customization options already seen on mobile phones.

It will introduce chat themes to the web version. In the recent update, chat customization on WhatsApp Web is very limited, with users only able to change the wallpapers and add simple doodle overlays. With these upcoming features, the users will be able to select a default theme that changes the appearance of message bubbles and adjusts the background to match.

This is also expected to improve the overall visual experience on the platform.

Chat themes are especially designed as the visual presets. When the user selects the theme, both the message bubble color and wallpaper will change to create a consistent look. These options are expected to be available within the settings on WhatsApp Web.

This upcoming feature is likely to work similarly to chat themes already available on mobile versions of WhatsApp by bringing a more unified experience across devices.

WhatsApp might enable users to set different themes for individual chats. This means each conversation has its own unique style. This is expected to make it easier for the users to identify conversations quickly. WhatsApp is now experimenting with a total of 49 theme options by including different shades and tones of similar colors.

Rather than offering just one version of color, the users will be able to choose from multiple variations, such as the different shades of blue. This wider range offers users more flexibility to pick a theme that suits their preferences.

Chat themes will remain private and visible only to the users who apply them. At the same time, other participants in the chat will not see these changes. This feature is now under experiment, and it is expected to roll out in upcoming upgrades, expected starting from beta users before the wider release.
