Podcaster Raj Shamani has released a new episode of his podcast featuring French President Emmanuel Macron, as he was on his three-day visit to India to participate in the AI Impact Summit. During the collaboration that no one expected, Macron can be seen discussing various global topics, ranging from France-India relations, technology, a multipolar world, and US President Donald Trump with Shamani.
The podcast was made live as Macron concluded his fourth visit to India. The French leader met Shamani when he was in Mumbai, as the podcaster can be heard welcoming him to the city.
During the podcast, Shamani posed a very important question on the ties the two world powers share: Whether India and France are setting an example. To this, Macron highlighted the deepening ties between the two nations and said that when “India and France team up, they deliver".
“A series of cooperation initiatives have taken place across key sectors with your country. I really believe that when we team up, we deliver."
Macron also spoke about the importance of maintaining balanced global relationships.
“Second, we don’t want to be dependent on one of the two big powers. We want to have a good relationship with the US and China. We have, by the way, a different relationship with both of them between India and France," he noted during the podcast, underlining a shared preference for strategic autonomy.
The French president arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday, ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day. Maharashtra governor Acharya Devvrat and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis were present at the Mumbai airport to receive the French leader.
The French President on Thursday concluded his visit to India and shared a “Thank You" note. In a post on X, Macron shared a video of his best moment in India with a “Thank You India!" note, appreciating the warm welcome he received during the visit.
Macron, during his visit to India, also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi for a state visit to France in June for the G7 Summit, noting that PM Modi will be a special guest at the summit.
Macron also confirmed that he has accepted a reciprocal invitation to visit India next year.
