Who is Anju Krishna? All you need to know about the Tamil–Malayalam film actress arrested in Chennai drug case

TRIGGER WARNING: This article contains references to alcohol and drug addiction.Anju Krishna is a 31-year-old actress who has worked in both Tamil and Malayalam films. She hails from Thrissur, in a place called Pazhayannur village.

While not much is known about her, she is slowly but steadily building her career in films.

On Instagram Anju has around 24k followers and her bio says, “Actor / Entrepreneur OM Vellimalai.” Anju has acted in movies, short films, and also a Malayalam serial named 'Priyankari.'

Anju Krishna's journey into films

Earlier in a chat with Nana, Anju Krishna had shared that she started her career with modeling. Later she did a short film and after that she got her entry into movies.Anju also said she got her chance in the Tamil film 'Vellimalai' through a friend and in that movie she played the heroine. She shared, “Tamil film industry is my base and many of the Kerala audiences doesn't know me that well. I love to do challenging roles in movies and also they should be something different from the usual characters. I wish to get a good space in acting and I love to give a signature style to my roles.”In the same interview Anju also talked about how much she loves Chennai.

She said, “I just love Chennai. I am completely busy when I am in Chennai and coming to the food factor too, I love it in here. Although majority of the Malayalis say that they love Kerala style rice and fish curry, I do prefer the food in Chennai. The masala here is very different as I love spicy food.”

Movies Anju Krishna has worked in

Anju Krishna has acted in both Tamil and Malayalam movies. In Tamil, Vellimalai is her main work where she played the female lead.

In Malayalam, she acted in films like Aaro and 'Akasham Kadann'.In 'Aaro', the director was Kareem and the writers were Kareem and Rasheed Parakkal. Actor Joju George played the lead role in that film, and Anju had an important role in it. She has slowly been taking up different kinds of roles in both industries.

About Chennai drug case involving Anju Krishna

Recently Anju Krishna was arrested in Chennai along with eight other people for drug possession. Reports say the arrest happened on Thursday.

The Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) South team did a raid in an area called Valasaravakkam. Reports from TOI City suggested that the police found methamphetamine and ganja during the search. Those arrested include Anju Krishna, assistant director Vincy Nivedha, Karthik Raja, Yashwant, Sriram, Alvibinsha, and Venkatesh Kumar. All of them were taken into custody for further investigation.

What has the police seized?

During the raid the police reportedly seized six grams of methamphetamine, seven grams of OG ganja, 15 grams of cannabis, one LSD stamp, and nine mobile phones.
