HYDERABAD

It was the ‘bond’ between Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, holding the portfolio of Home too, which had protected the former’s son from arrest in the POCSO case registered against him by providing him shelter allegedly in a corporate hospital belonging to the latter’s relatives, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao alleged on Friday.

Reacting to the “irrational and illogical comments” made by the Chief Minister on Thursday, Mr. Rama Rao sought to know which ‘idiot’ had tried to heap injustice on a girl for extending his political interests all these days. Speaking to newspersons here, he said that it was the bond between the Union Minister and the Chief Minister that had led to the threatening of the victim girl’s family and registration of a false counter case.

The BRS leader further wanted the Union Minister and the Chief Minister to explain to the people of Telangana as to who had managed the media either for not giving coverage to the news at all or to dismiss it as a petty issue, who had made phone calls to the media houses and who had tried to paint the issue as a “honey trap” when injustice was being done to a girl.

It was in the unavoidable and inevitable circumstances after the High Court had refused to grant bail to the accused in the case, the government had to show the arrest of the accused. The Chief Minister had tried to escape the responsibility by attributing the delay in arrest to the police engaged in the Prime Minister’s visit.

He complimented the efforts of the party general secretary and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar in alerting people and the media about the issue. It was the responsibility of the government bigwigs to explain as to who was behind the publication of POCSO case news as a honey trap issue.

Roach party

On the issue of ‘cockroach party’, he said that perhaps people were of the belief that it (cockroach party) was better than the Congress as the latter had badly failed as the Opposition. On the issue of a raid on his brother-in-law’s house in the name of a drugs case, the BRS leader sought to know why a case was not registered if any contraband was found and why the government was hesitating to conduct drug tests on all MP, MLAs and MLCs from the State.
