A frustrated Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez slammed his teammates after their shock 2-0 defeat against Fluminense at the Club World Cup, saying that whoever do not want to stay in the team can go look for pastures new. Inter have had a season to forget, having conceded the Serie A to Napoli and then getting a 5-0 thrashing in the Champions League final against Paris Saint Germain.

“Whoever wants to stay, stay; whoever does not want to stay should go,” Martínez told DAZN after the match. “I have seen a lot of things that I didn’t like. I want to win.

After the embarrassment vs PSG, Inter Milan appointed former defender Cristian Chivu as head coach in place of Simone Inzaghi.

“we’re winners, sometimes we show our pride and character. I also said the same kind of things in the press conference. That we have to all stay in the same boat. He said the same kind of things, but without holding back. But that applies to everyone. To a team, and to a club that are hungry to redeem themselves for a season that wasn’t hard to manage,” Chivu was quoted as saying by OneFootball.

Germán Cano scored on a header three minutes into the match, and Fluminense held on to upset Champions League finalist Inter to advance to the Club World Cup quarterfinals in front of a sparse crowd of 20,030 at Bank of America Stadium.

The Brazilians move on to face Al Hilal on Friday in Orlando, Florida.

Almost before both teams were able to break a sweat in the 90-degrees Fahrenheit heat, Jhon Arias sent a slightly deflected crossing pass from the right corner that Cano headed between goalkeeper Yann Sommer’s legs into the net for a 1-0 lead. It was all they would need.

The Brazilians appeared to add to their lead late in the first half, but Ignacio’s header into the net was waived off due to being offside.
