New Delhi: Many ambitious young entrepreneurs and startup owners have come to Dubai to start businesses, earn better incomes and lead a better life in Dubai as compared to India. A few of the founding comments have raised anew the debate on why businessmen are flocking to Dubai.
One of the most recent is Soumendra Jena, the entrepreneur who has decided to leave India in 2021 as the business climate has turned inappropriate for ethical entrepreneurs. Dubai had prospects which were much better, and he now makes in the region of around 100 times what he used to make in India, he said. He also pointed out difficulties in expanding a company with uncertainty over regulation and business pressures in India.
Another entrepreneur, Mehul Mohan (33) from Bengaluru, just moved to Dubai to start his Welcome to Fermion. “Obviously, it was not for the money,” he said interestingly. Rather, he declared that he was “completely burnt out” on the system, and looking to have a better work-life balance, he said. Dubai, he believes, is a “safer place to live and to do business”.
Experts clarify there can be a multitude of reasons prompting entrepreneurs to choose for Dubai. In most cases virtually none is paid as personal income tax, while the commercial environment is supported through favourable tax legislation and quicker business incorporation process, and international markets are readily accessible in the city. The following elements can assist startups keep more of their high-level business growth interests and less with the specifics of paperwork.
Dubai is also a new technology, tech start-up, finance and digital business hub. Several Indian business owners, especially from the tech and Web3 verticals, have moved their businesses to UAE recently. In recent years, the UAE has also gained a number of Indian business owners, especially in the tech and Web3 industries. They are often recognized by clarity of regulations and positive regularization climate.
But the notion of living outside the country is not something everyone backs. Indian economy is still one of the most dynamic and successful economy in the world and there are great opportunities for entrepreneurs. Despite the presence of a huge customer base and the fast development of digital markets in India, it still lure thousands of startups each year.
As the debate rages about this, a key question for policy makers is how can India make it easier for its entrepreneurs to create and grow their business on country’s soil? The greater EoB and less uncertainty has the potential to be a high priority in attracting and retaining talent and investment as more founders look overseas.
The city of Dubai remains an attractive choice for entrepreneurs seeking to make international moves, and expand their businesses, and boost their income for the time being.
