Why are the difficulty options removed in Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Campaign?

Those who have been playing Call of Duty for years, might have become accustomed with the four difficulty levels of the games: Recruit, Regular, Hardened, and Veteran. But as things stand, Black Ops 7 isn’t going to feature such options anymore in its Campaign missions.Call of Duty Black Ops 7 will introduce new features, steering away from its franchise’s roots. For example, there will be a massive open world PvE “Endgame” mode. But the highlight of all of these has to be the co-op Campaign, which won’t have any difficulty level at all.

Why will the Campign of Call of Duty Black Ops 7 won’t feature any difficulty option?

This is not the first time that any Call of Duty would feature a co-op Campaign. In 2015, Black Ops 3 featured such Campaign missions for the first time.

But it will surely be the first time when a CoD title won’t feature any difficulty level at all. That means no more challenging runs for the players who love to try out their skins in Veteran difficulty. In a recent interview with IGN, associate creative director of Black Ops 7, Miles Leslie, has told that players need to approach the co-op Campaign differently as the developers have “baked in” the difficulty level this time.

Leslie also assured that the team wanted to make sure that the missions also felt right for the solo players as well. The main reason behind this overhaul was because the development team thinks this new co-op Campaign is a social experience and they wanted to make sure it’s fun and also the right amount of challenging irrespective of the team size. So, how will the difficulty level of Black Ops 7 Campaign work? While playing co-op, the difficulty level in the upcoming game will be adjusted according to the squad size.

However, that doesn’t mean playing in a squad would make the Campaign a cakewalk, as it will also need proper teamwork to complete those missions. Now, it would be interesting to see how players cope with this new dynamic difficulty system in Black Ops 7, because the Campaign missions won’t be about how you want to play it; rather it will be how you will actually play it, because of its balancing approach based on the squad size.
