Crude oil shipments from the Gulf to India typically take around two weeks by sea. By contrast, air transport could deliver the same cargo within a few hours. Yet, despite this obvious speed advantage, oil and LPG are almost exclusively transported via ships. It is a question many have wondered: if aircraft can carry fuel in their wings and safely transport passengers, why can’t crude oil or LPG be moved in bulk through the air?
