Wild boar barges into supermarket in Ranni, attacks employee

Kochi: A woman employee got injured after a wild boar barged into a supermarket and attacked her in Ranni, Pathanamthitta on Sunday morning.Beena, a native of Mandirampadi, suffered injuries to her hand when the wild boar charged at her when she was placing goods on the racks at around 8.30am.

The animal chased her inside the supermarket and attacker her while she was trying to fend off it.

Even though Beena managed to run out of the shop, the wild boar continued to chase her. Hearing her cry for help, residents came to her help and drove away the animal, which also damaged goods.Later, the wild boar ran amok and ran along Punalur-Muvattupuzha state highway causing panic among the public. Residents later tracked the wild boar to a rubber plantation around 1km away from the supermarket. On the directions of panchayat authorities, a designated shooter shot dead the animal.
