BJP national president Nitin Nabin, in an exclusive interview with News18, expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will register a strong presence in Kerala.
“All the match fixing between LDF and UDF will be over in Kerala this time. Trust in BJP will be visible this time," Nabin told Rahul Joshi, the MD & Group Editor-in-Chief of Network18.
Earlier too Nabin had accused the LDF and UDF of running a long-standing “match-fixing game" with voters. “For a long time, there was a ‘match-fixing game’ between the LDF and UDF, but now people of Kerala want to come out of that cycle," he said, adding that the BJP is now emerging as a genuine alternative.
Additionally, Nabin laid out BJP’s vision for the state through its manifesto, titled ‘Viksit Keralam’ — or Developed Kerala. He described the manifesto as a “sacred pledge" to the people of Kerala, presenting a 10-year roadmap to dismantle decades of political match-fixing and transform the state into a global economic powerhouse.
Nabin also highlighted the BJP’s growth in Kerala — from a two per cent vote share some time ago to 20 per cent now — crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the rise. “In the local body elections, we performed strongly and even made gains in major centres like Thiruvananthapuram," he said.
At a roadshow in Mattannur, Nabin went further, saying: “This time BJP will get a very good response from the public of Kerala. We are very confident that this time the Lotus will give a clear-cut mandate."
What BJP’s manifesto promises: The BJP manifesto promises an AIIMS, a high-speed rail network from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur, specialised economic hubs in major cities, a rechargeable welfare card for women, and free LPG cylinders for poor families.
Kerala election date and counting date: The polls were conducted on April 9, 2026. Votes will be counted and results declared on May 4, 2026.
Observers noted that for the first time in Kerala’s political history, a strong three-way contest was visible in nearly every constituency — a sign, the BJP argued, that the state’s political landscape is finally shifting.
