Kerala home minister Ramesh Chennithala
Kochi: Addressing reports of razor blades being used at a protest by SFI activists in Thiruvananthapuram, home minister Ramesh Chennithala said that police have no reason to carry razor blades to protests since they are equipped with lathis and guns.Addressing reporters in Kochi, Chennithala said that directions have been issued to identify those who brought blades to protest. He said that attacking police with blades is totally unacceptable and that cops too were human beings.When asked about comments made by others in the party, including V M Sudheeran, against the proposed tax cuts for low-spirit liquor, Chennithala said that UDF will take a decision on the policy.
He added that there was no move to close down bars.He also said that there was no proposal in the state budget for private investment in mineral mining.Meanwhile, Chennithala conducted the regional inauguration of ‘Operation Toofaan: The Narco Hunt’ at St Teresa’s College, Kochi. During the event, the Toofaan pledge was administered, and Toofaan Warrior badges were distributed.
