As March unfolds, Bengaluru and the rest of Karnataka are settling into a dry and increasingly warm weather pattern. While the mornings retain a slight seasonal chill, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports a steady rise in daytime temperatures across the state.

This trend marks the official onset of the summer season, with several districts already recording figures well above the seasonal average.

Bengaluru: Bright Sun and High UV

The weather in Bengaluru for Wednesday, March 4, will be consistently sunny with clear night skies. Expect a maximum temperature of 32°C and a minimum of 18°C. The humidity remains low at 26%, and a 12 mph wind from the east will provide some movement in the air.

A key detail for residents is the UV Index, which is at a very high level of 10. Protective measures are recommended for those outdoors during the afternoon.

The weekly outlook for the city shows a slight warming trend followed by a minor dip:

State-wide Forecast: Heat in the Interior

Across the rest of Karnataka, dry weather is expected to prevail for the next five days. The IMD has indicated that no significant rainfall is likely for the Coastal, North Interior, or South Interior regions. However, a local wind discontinuity may result in scattered cloud cover in certain pockets of the south.

Kalaburagi recently recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 37.4°C, signaling the intense heat building in North Interior Karnataka. While maximum temperatures are currently hovering near normal in many areas, the IMD predicts a rising tendency.

Minimum temperatures have been appreciably above normal in one or two places in the North, while Davanagere recently recorded the state’s lowest minimum at 17.0°C.

Heatwave Risks and Precautions

Though no official heatwave warning has been issued for this specific week, the seasonal outlook for March to May suggests an above-normal number of heatwave days for parts of North Karnataka. The combination of dry winds from the north and a lack of active western disturbances is contributing to this early heat build-up.

Citizens are advised to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak sunlight hours as the state transitions into a harsher summer phase.
