French footballer Wissam Ben Yedder was convicted of psychological violence against his estranged wife and slapped with a fine of 90,000 Euros on Wednesday, in what was his second conviction in less than a year.
Ben Yedder’s lawyer, Marie Roumiantseva, said that the former Sevilla star, who did not attend the verdict, will appeal the ruling.
The 35-year-old former Monaco and France forward also received a suspended two-year jail sentence for sexually assaulting a woman two months previously.

In 2023, a Spanish court handed him a six-month suspended sentence for tax fraud committed during his time at Sevilla from 2016 to 2019. He is also under investigation, along with his brother Sabri, for the alleged rape of two women in 2023, a charge both men deny.
Regarding the psychological violence case, France’s public prosecutor’s office had requested an eight-month suspended sentence and a 10,000-euro fine.
He was instead fined 90,000 euros and ordered to pay 60,000 euros, divided equally between damages to his wife and legal fees. The couple is currently in the process of divorcing.

Ben Yedder, the former captain of French Ligue 1 side Monaco, ranks second on the club’s list of all-time leading goalscorers. He has been without a club since his brief stint earlier this year at Sepahan in Iran.
