A woman on her way to work was killed in a road accident on Sunday morning after being hit by an SUV making a right turn near Roorkee’s Kotwali area.

The victim, identified as Kirti from the Khanjarpur area, was run over by the SUV near Jadugar Road in the Kotwali area, said officials. The incident was captured on CCTV.

Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.

The CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the vehicle and determine the exact sequence of events, said officials.

In a separate incident in April, a 35-year-old woman died after being hit by a BEST bus near St. Michael’s Church on Swami Vivekanand Road in Mumbai.

According to reports, she was sitting by the roadside when the bus, approaching at high speed from the Mori Road side, struck her.

Eyewitnesses claimed the driver was driving recklessly. The woman suffered critical head injuries and could not be saved, said officials.
