A 31-year-old woman fell to her death from a 20-feet-high flyover while her husband was injured after a speeding car coming from the wrong side collided head-on into their two-wheeler on Bachahalli Gate flyover in Devanahalli traffic police station limits in the wee hours of Sunday (August 24, 2025).

The deceased has been identified as Nethravathi (31). Her husband, Shivu, who owned a roadside tea shop, sustained minor injuries. The couple were residents of Banaswadi and have two children.

According to the police, the couple were heading to Chikkaballapur on their scooter to meet Nethravathi’s mother, who had just been discharged from the hospital after an eye surgery, and to pick up their children staying at their grandmother’s house.

Around 12.30 a.m., while riding near the Bachahalli Gate flyover, a speeding car hit their scooter. The impact threw Nethravathi off the flyover, and about 20 feet down to the ground, causing severe head injuries.

She died on the spot, while her husband sustained minor injuries after falling to the left side of the bike. The car driver fled from the scene, the police said.

A case has been registered at the Devanahalli traffic police station, and nearby CCTV footage is being analysed to trace the absconding driver and vehicle number plate. Further investigations are on, the police added.
