A 40-year-old woman was found dead in the bathroom of her penthouse in Madhura Nagar on Thursday morning, with police later ruling out murder and suspicious circumstances after the post-mortem examination confirmed that liver-related health complications were the cause of death.
The deceased was identified as Harika, a native of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh, who had been living alone in a penthouse above a ladies hostel.
According to the police, residents of the building raised an alarm after she had not been seen for nearly two days and a foul smell was emanating from the room.
The Madhura Nagar police reached the spot and found her decomposed body in the bathroom. Preliminary investigation indicated that she had died around 36 hours before the body was discovered.
Police initially examined all possible angles, including accidental fall and foul play. However, the autopsy conducted at Gandhi Hospital confirmed that she had been suffering from liver-related ailments, which led to her death. A case was registered and further formalities are underway, police said.
