The upcoming tournament, which will be played in the T20 format, is designed to showcase the next generation of women’s cricketing talent. It will feature ‘A’ teams from four full-member nations that hold One Day International (ODI) status, along with four leading associate teams from across the Asian region.
The second edition of the tournament was initially slated to get underway on June 6 last year in Sri Lanka. However, the event had to be postponed following a request from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva, citing persistent adverse weather conditions as well as public health concerns arising from the outbreak and spread of chikungunya in the country.
