Xiaomi has launched its 17T series in Europe, and both phones—the 17T and the pricier 17T Pro—come with something the T-series has never had: a Leica-tuned 5x periscope telephoto camera.
The 17T starts at €749 (around Rs 71,000), the Pro at €899 (around Rs 85,000), and India gets the standard model on June 4.
Both the 17T and 17T Pro share a 50MP Leica periscope telephoto—a first for the series
The new telephoto is the headline feature across both models. It's a 50MP periscope unit with a 115mm equivalent focal length, f/3 aperture, OIS, and 10x optical-quality zoom, stretching to 120x via AI Ultra Zoom. Alongside it, both phones carry a 50MP main camera with a Leica UltraPure optical design and a 12MP ultrawide.
The main sensor is where the two diverge—the Pro gets the larger Type 1/1.31 chip, while the 17T uses a Type 1/1.55.A new Leica Live Moment feature ships on both devices. It captures a short video burst with every shot and uses AI to pull the sharpest frame as the final still. It works across all focal lengths, including portrait mode.
India gets the 17T on June 4, marking the T-series' return to the country after three years
The 17T is the only model headed to India—Xiaomi India has already been teasing it as "The Telephoto Master." Expected specs include a 6.59-inch 1.5K 144Hz display, Dimensity 8500 Ultra chip, 6,500mAh battery with 67W HyperCharge, and IP68 rating. European pricing starts at €749 (around Rs 71,000) for the base 12GB/256GB model.
