Yadav community protests in Bettiah over film title

Bettiah: Members of the Yadav community staged a protest in Bettiah, the district headquarters of West Champaran district, on Saturday against the proposed film “Yadav Ji Ki Love Story”.The demonstration was held at Harivatika Chowk, where protesters raised slogans and burned an effigy of the film. They alleged that the use of the surname “Yadav” in the title had hurt the sentiments of the community. The agitators warned that if the title of the film is not changed, they would intensify their protest. They also cautioned cinema hall operators in Bettiah against screening the film, saying that theatres would face consequences if it is released in the town.Abhishek Yadav, a member of an organisation associated with the Yadav community, said the film portrays a particular caste in a negative light, which could disturb social harmony. He urged the film’s director, producer and lead actors to change the title. He also warned that if the name is not altered, members of the Yadav community across the country would launch a large-scale protest and boycott the film.Police personnel were deployed at the protest site to prevent any untoward incident while the district administration kept a close watch on the situation.
