New Delhi: Yamaha has officially unveiled its long-awaited entry in India’s competitive electric scooter space with the introduction of the Yamaha EC-06. Yamaha’s first electric two-wheeler for the Indian market. This latest model is priced at Rs 1.67 lakh ex-showroom, and this Yamaha EC-06 will be available in selected cities through their official Yamaha dealership network. EC-06 is offered in a single colour option, Bluish White. This model is based on the same platform as the River Indie, but it has distinctive design elements.
It gets a more raked, muscular front apron by featuring a horizontally-stacked LED headlamp setup. If we discuss the sides, it comes with angular body panels and a modern look overall. This model features significantly smaller 24.5-litre under-seat storage capacity. It is powered by a fixed 4 kWh battery pack. This model is paired with an electric motor with the power outputs rated at 8.9 bhp and 26 Nm of torque. Yamaha has also promised a top speed of 79 kmph, while the scooter offers a certified riding range of 169 km on a single charge. The battery comes with a warranty of three years or 30,000 km.
It can be plugged into the regular household power socket, and a full charge takes around eight hours. The Yamaha EC-06 gets three riding modes: Eco, Standard, and Power. There is also a reverse mode; the scooter is equipped with an LCD instrument cluster that displays key information such as speed, battery level, riding modes, and connectivity details. This cluster also offers smartphone connectivity through Yamaha’s mobile application. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking hardware includes 200 mm disc brakes at both the front and rear, supported by the Combi Brake System.
