A year after announcing that her cancer was in remission, Britain’s future queen, Kate Middleton, has now climbed the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales over the weekend.
In a social media post, the Princess of Wales said she has completed the climbs — known as the Three Peaks Challenge in Britain — “to give something back".
She climbed Scotland’s Ben Nevis, England’s Scafell Pike and Wales’s Snowdon within 24 hours, trekking for 37 kilometres and ascending more than 10,000 feet in total.
AFP quoted her Kensington Palace office stating that the princess was the first member of the royal family to complete the challenge.
The Princess said the challenge was to raise money and awareness for the hospital where she underwent cancer treatment.
In 2024, she had revealed her cancer and started her chemotherapy. She was treated for the disease at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital. In January 2025, the princess announced that she was in remission from cancer and was gradually returning to public royal duties.

In the video posted on Sunday, she said: “I’m so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills. But more importantly, it is to give something back and acknowledge really all the incredible work going on up and down this country."
In another post, she shared a photograph of her at one of the summits with the caption: “I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis."
“Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare," she added.
