Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister and Kakinada District In-Charge Minister P. Narayana on Wednesday assured that water would be supplied for the kharif season from August 1 through the Purushottampatnam and Pushkar Lift Irrigation Schemes to the tail-end area of the Yeleru reservoir in Kakinada district.
Speaking at the District Development Review Committee meeting held on Wednesday, Mr. Narayana acknowledged that there is insufficient water storage in the Yeleru reservoir to meet the irrigation needs in the tail-end areas.
On the status of crop loans in the kharif season, District Collector S. Shan Mohan informed Mr. Narayana that the Crop Cultivator’s Rights Cards (CCRC) have been issued to 23,636 tenant farmers against the targeted 69,000.
Kakinada City MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao stressed that many projects have been halted due to pending funds yet to be received for the Smart City Mission from the Centre. He also appealed for an inquiry into the fake house site pattas given under the Pedalandariki Illu scheme between 2019 and 2024 in Kakinada district.
