Yogi reviews PWD plan, fast-tracks devpt works

Kanpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting of the Public Works Department (PWD) on Thursday at the Udyog auditorium of the joint commissioner office on the HBTU campus.The CM reviewed the action plan for the financial year 2026-27 and held detailed discussions with public representatives of Kanpur division on development-related proposals.

At the meeting, public representatives of Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Etawah, Auraiya and Farrukhabad districts presented proposals related to the development needs of their respective areas.Yogi Adityanath said that public representatives have in-depth knowledge of the geographical, social and developmental needs of their areas. In such a situation, their suggestions and proposals should be compiled on priority basis and the action plan should be sent to govt promptly so that necessary approvals can be granted and work can be started in a time-bound manner.The CM said that recovery of compensation from individuals or institutions damaging the roads of the PWD should be ensured as per rules. Effective action should be taken to maintain the quality and utility of roads. He directed that projects related to public interest should be granted approval on priority basis and implemented in a time-bound manner.The CM directed the officials to ensure prompt action according to the priority order set by public representatives on proposals related to the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana, state highways, long and small bridges, ROB/RUB, connecting roads linking religious places, flyovers and road safety.

He said that time-bound, coordinated and transparent action should be taken on all points raised by public representatives.

The participation of concerned public representatives should be ensured in the bhumi pujan and foundation stone-laying programmes of development projects.The CM made it clear that any laxity in the implementation of development works will not be acceptable and every project should be completed with quality and in a time-bound manner.The CM was informed that proposals for 344 projects worth Rs ₹5,523 crore have been received from Kanpur Nagar, 217 projects worth ₹2,058 crore from Kannauj, 339 projects worth ₹2,016 crore from Farrukhabad, 387 projects worth ₹1,581 crore from Kanpur Dehat, 33 projects worth ₹439 crore from Auraiya and 54 projects worth ₹104 crore from Etawah. Thus, proposals for a total of 1,374 projects worth ₹11,724 crore have been submitted from the six districts of Kanpur division.The CM also reviewed the projects approved in the last financial year. He was informed that last year 2,301 projects worth ₹5,497 crore were approved in Kanpur division, of which 1,242 projects have already been completed and work on the remaining projects is in progress. Yogi Adityanath directed that in projects where work has not begun despite completion of the tender process, the concerned firms should be identified and strict action taken.

The process of blacklisting them and registering FIRs should also be adopted.
