Youth found hanging in Katihar

A 25-year-old man, Vinayak Pandit, was discovered hanging in a locked room in Katihar district. His family reported him missing after he left for dinner. His alleged girlfriend claimed he had been harassing her and had locked himself in her room. Both women are now accusing each other of murder, with police investigating a possible love affair.

Patna: A 25-year-old man, Vinayak Pandit, was found hanging in a locked room at a house in Kumaripur market under Manihari police station area of Katihar district on Saturday.Vinayak, a resident of Sujapur ward no. 15 under Barari police station area, ran a fast-food stall with his father, Mithlesh Pandit.

He left home around 8pm on Friday, telling his family that he was going out for dinner.

His cellphone was later found switched off.Late at night, Vinayak’s alleged girlfriend, Aarti Devi, called his family and alleged that he had been harassing her for the past two years and had locked himself inside her room. When the family reached the house, Vinayak was found hanging.Aarti Devi and her sister-in-law, Phoolo Devi, accused each other of murdering Vinayak. On receiving information, SDPO Vinod Kumar and SHO Pankaj Anand reached the spot, and a forensic team was called.Police said the incident appeared to be linked to a love affair. “The body has been sent for the postmortem, and both women have been detained for questioning. The matter is under investigation,” the SDPO said.
