New Delhi: YouTube recently reported that it is testing a new feature for the mobile application that will make it easier to share specific moments from videos.
The platform is unveiling the timestamp sharing option that will enable users to send videos by starting from the selected point, without needing extra steps or tools. This latest feature simplifies how users share content from longer videos.
Rather than manually copying links and adjusting timestamps or using separate tools, users will be able to directly choose the moment in the video and share it instantly. Those shared links will automatically start playback from that selected time.
It might be particularly useful for highlighting key moments in the tutorials, interviews, or long-form content, where the users often want to direct others to the specific section instead of the entire video.
This upgrade might replace or limit the use of the YouTube’s existing Clips features, which was debuted in platform in 2021. Clips enabled the users to create those short segments from videos, add titles, and share them as standalone snippets.
And by unveiling timestamp sharing, YouTube is reported to be shifting towards a simpler approach. While other old clips will remain accessible, the users might no longer be able to create the latest ones in the same way. This latest system aims for quick sharing instead of creating edited snippets.
