YSR Congress Party’s Chittoor district president and former TTD Trust Board Chairman, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, has strongly objected to the recently initiated land swap policy by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), alleging it could be a potential scam.

Squarely blaming current TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for backing the move, Mr. Karunakar Reddy insisted that the public has a right to a clear explanation.

Addressing a press conference in Tirupati on Sunday, he said the government had allowed the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA), Vijayawada, to exchange its 24.68 acres of land in Survey No. 604, Peruru village, Tirupati rural mandal, for 25 acres of TTD land in Survey No. 588/A, Tirupati urban mandal, as per G.O.M.S. No. 21 dated August 7, 2025.

“This permits APTA to execute a registered ‘exchange deed’ with the TTD. It is essentially a ploy to hand over the precious 20-acre land, valued at nearly ₹1,500 crore, to the Oberoi Group,” he alleged.

Mr. Karunakar Reddy added that such an exchange of Lord Venkateswara’s land for commercial purposes has never occurred in TTD’s history and warned that any move to alienate temple lands for non-intended purposes would be opposed tooth and nail by the YSRCP.
