Members of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) staged a protest in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, demanding an adjournment motion to discuss the alleged supply of adulterated ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for preparation of laddu prasadam.

MLCs K.R.J. Bharat and Sipayi Subramanyam invoked Rule 58 of the Council’s Rules of Procedure, seeking suspension of scheduled business to take up the issue.

However, Council Chairman Koyye Moshenu Raju informed the House that the adjournment motion was not admitted.

Raising the issue, Leader of Opposition in the Council Botcha Satyanarayana alleged that one of the companies involved in the supply of ghee to the TTD before 2019 had business relations with Heritage Foods Limited, owned by the family members of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He claimed that between 2014 and 2019, a Maharashtra-based firm, Indapur Dairy and Milk Products Limited, had supplied ghee to the TTD and had links with Heritage Foods. He further alleged that despite being disqualified for six months over quality issues, the firm had been allowed to continue supplies during Mr. Naidu’s earlier tenure as Chief Minister.

YSRCP members accused Mr. Naidu of dragging the TTD into the controversy for political and financial gain, and said they would allow normal business only if a discussion was permitted.

Refuting the allegations, Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad asserted that Heritage Foods had no direct or indirect role in the ghee supply issue.

Mr. Atchannaidu challenged the Opposition to provide a single piece of evidence, and alleged that the YSRCP lacked moral ground to debate the TTD matters. He further said that the ongoing SIT probe had already established adulteration in ghee supplied between 2019 and 2024 under the YSRCP regime, and that former TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy had acknowledged the findings.

Mr. Atchannaidu also alleged that YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy disrespected Hindu faith by not giving a declaration while visiting the Tirumala temple.

Mr. Parthasarathy accused the YSRCP of deliberately disrupting the proceedings for political mileage by linking Heritage Foods to the controversy.

As protests continued throughout the day, the Chairman adjourned the House, with only limited legislative business transacted.
