Former Deputy Chief Minister Peedika Rajanna Dora on Sunday expressed confidence that the YSR Congress Party would sweep the local body elections, citing the strength of its grassroots network across all mandals in the Salur Assembly constituency of Parvatipuram-Manyam district. Mr. Rajanna Dora held a review meeting with party leaders from Pachipenta, Makkuva, Mentada and Saluru mandals to assess the party’s preparedness at the local level.
Speaking to the media, he said village-level committees had been constituted to strengthen the organisation at the booth level ahead of the elections. He said separate committees for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, backward classes, women and other sections were being formed to enable local leaders to study public issues and bring them to the notice of the officials concerned in their respective mandals. Mr. Rajanna Dora alleged that the TDP, Jana Sena Party and BJP had lost credibility over the past 20 months due to the lack of development in the constituency, and said people were convinced that only the YSR Congress Party could ensure development and effectively implement welfare measures for all sections of society.
