Raipur: Chhattisgarh’s Yuvraj Singh Rajput, widely known as the “Crown Prince of Bastar,” secured a bronze medal for India at the first IFMA World School Muay Thai Championship in Kuala Lumpur, adding a significant international podium finish for the state at the global stage.Competing in the U18, -86kg category , Yuvraj’s campaign ended in the semifinals when the center referee stopped the bout on player-safety grounds following a head injury sustained from sustained punches by Russia’s Artem Zeitunian. The stoppage confirmed Yuvraj’s place on the podium, delivering India’s second bronze medal of the championship and marking Chhattisgarh’s medal contribution to the national tally.India has so far collected one silver and two bronze medals at the World School Championship being held from 16 to 21 June 2026, alongside the IFMA World Senior Muay Thai Championship running from 16 to 26 June 2026 at the same venue in Malaysia.In the same World School event, Raipur’s Samidha Agarwal bowed out in the quarterfinals of the U18, -45kg division after a three-round contest against Philippines fighter Risha Althea Amoguis, losing on points despite a gritty performance.In the senior championship, Tikeshwari Sahu of Raipur and Praveen Krishna Jaiswal have advanced to the quarterfinals in their respective weight categories, keeping Chhattisgarh’s challenge alive in the 23-and-above division.
