BENGALURU: Photos showing disposable plates, cans and food waste strewn across chairs and the floor after a quiz night at a Bengaluru venture capital firm have sparked a debate on civic responsibility on social media.Sharing the images on X, a user named Goutham criticised attendees for leaving behind litter despite dustbins being available nearby.

"Here's what I hate the most about us Indians. This is the aftermath of a quiz night at a tier-1 VC in Bengaluru. The people in this room were probably the top 0.01% of the country in terms of income and education. Still, we expect someone to clean up after us, even with a dustbin in sight," he wrote.Goutham claimed that many participants were among the country's most educated and affluent individuals, questioning why people continued to expect others to clean up after them. The post quickly went viral, with many users saying the incident reflected a lack of civic sense and calling for greater responsibility in maintaining shared spaces. One user commented, "Cleared my table after eating at KFC once. The family at the next table thought I'd been promoted and asked me to clean theirs too."

Responding to the post, Goutham wrote, "Pathetic, but kudos to you!"Another user said, "As stupid as this sounds, just one reminder at the start and end of an event fixes this. We're overstimulated and distracted, but pretty obedient as a race. Obviously this should've been drilled into us at home and school. The next best way is this."Some users also questioned whether the organisers had provided adequate waste disposal facilities. Responding to one such comment, Goutham clarified, "There was a trash bin in sight, and this is not a school quiz."
