A record 112 probationary deputy superintendents of police, including 38 women officers, began their training at the RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy on Thursday (November 06).
Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy, who inaugurated the programme, said the State police force is the top-ranked in the country and it is the responsibility of the new officers to uphold that standard. “A police officer must not only enforce the law but understand its spirit. Values like impartiality, patience, and empathy make an officer truly effective,” he said, addressing the recruits.
The DGP told the trainees that the next 10 months of training would shape their leadership journey and instill discipline, punctuality, and character. “Discipline is not punishment but readiness,” he said, adding that teamwork and physical training build self-control.
The DGP said Telangana Police has become a model for modern policing with specialised units such as Greyhounds, Octopus, and the Command Control Centre, along with citizen-focused initiatives like SHE Teams, Bharosa Centres, and community policing programmes.
He urged the trainees to uphold three key values: honesty, empathy, and professionalism. “True power does not come from the stars on your uniform but from the trust reflected in the eyes of the people,” he said.
Director of the RBVRR Telanngana State Police Academy Abhilasha Bisht said the 42-week training would be intensive and aimed at developing leadership and integrity. The DGP unveiled the training syllabus at the event, which was attended by senior officials, including TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, Director of EAGLE Sandeep Shandilya, Additional DGP (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat and Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police V. C. Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police Rachakonda Sudheer Babu and Commissioner of Police Cyberabad Avinash Mohanty.
