12 injured in group clash in Jajpur district

Kendrapada: A violent clash broke out between supporters of Dharmasala independent MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo and BJD’s former legislator Pranab Kumar Balabantaray on Sunday at Panturi in Jajpur district.

Over a dozen people were injured from both sides and several vehicles were also damaged in the clash. BJD staged a protest outside the DGP’s office in Bhubaneswar, demanding immediate arrest of the attackers.It is yet to be ascertained what triggered the clash. Both sides, however, blamed each other for the incident. All the injured are undergoing treatment at Dharmasala CHC. “We will arrest all the accused soon,” said Jenapur police station IIC Sulochana Jena.
