33-year-old man raped and murdered his minor cousin after she tied Rakhi on his wrist. He staged it as suicide, but police found evidence.

Rakshabandhan, a festival where a brother promises to protect his sister, was shamed after a cousin allegedly raped and murdered his minor sister hours after she tied Rakhi on his wrist. The disturbing news was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya. As per the police, after killing the girl, he hung her body from a noose to make it look like suicide.

As per a report by NDTV, after celebrating Rakshabandhan on Saturday, 33-year-old Surjeet went back to his home upon consuming a lot of alcohol. He raped the girl while she was asleep and then killed her. As per the police, the girl’s father was asleep in the next room but couldn’t hear anything.

The girl’s body was found hanging the next day.

After the gruesome killing, Surjeet started misleading the investigation. Police got suspicious when he did not let any other family member answer the questions.

As the police reached the murder spot, they were sure it was not a suicide case because there were bloodstains in several places. Her body was sent for a post-mortem, which confirmed rape.

NDTV further reported that Surjeet was held and he confessed to the crime during interrogation.
