The Hyderabad district administration on Monday (October 27) conducted a transparent lottery process for the allotment of liquor shops for the 2025–2027 licensing period. The draw of lots, held at Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan in Jubilee Hills, was overseen by District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari, ensuring fair and rule-based allocation under the new excise policy.
A total of 179 liquor shops were allotted across Hyderabad and Secunderabad divisions. In Hyderabad, 82 shops were allotted from 3,201 applications, while in Secunderabad, 97 shops were allotted from 3,022 applications. The process was supervised by Additional Collector (Revenue) G. Mukunda Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that meticulous arrangements were made to ensure transparency and avoid any irregularities. The entire draw process was conducted in the presence of applicants, with tokens being displayed and drawn publicly. The proceedings were recorded on video from start to finish, said a release.
Out of 6,223 applications received for all 179 shops in the district, each shop-wise draw was conducted strictly in accordance with the rules of the new excise policy.
