2 teacher education programmes to start in Fakir Mohan University

Bhubaneswar: The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has approved opening of 2 Integrated Teacher Education Programmes (ITEP) at Fakir Mohan University, Balasore.According to the approval, the university will introduce BA BEd and BSc BEd courses with an intake capacity of 50 seats each. Now IIT Bhubaneswar and some other institutions in the state are offering these programmes.The ITEP is designed for students aspiring to build a career in teaching. In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP)–2020, this 4-year integrated programme is envisioned as a transformative step towards strengthening the quality of teacher education and addressing the future educational needs of the country.Prior to granting approval, an expert team from NCTE conducted a ground-level inspection and survey at Fakir Mohan University to assess the infrastructure, academic preparedness, and institutional readiness of the programme.The courses will be offered through the School of Education, Fakir Mohan University, located at the Old Campus, and will commence from the forthcoming academic session 2026-27.Santosh Kumar Tripathy, vice-chancellor of the university, said the required teaching and non-teaching staff have already been appointed to ensure smooth academic and administrative functioning of the courses.

The admission process of ITEP will be conducted through the National Testing Agency (NTA) through the online mode. Detailed information regarding eligibility criteria, admission procedures, and other relevant guidelines will be published shortly on the university’s official website, as well as in leading newspapers, said an official statement issued by the university on Friday.
