A chilling first-person account circulating on social media has added to the sense of shock across Latin America following the US military operation that toppled Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, with claims of advanced technology and overwhelming force used during the raid.

The account, attributed to a Venezuelan security guard loyal to Maduro and shared by commentator Mike Netter, describes radar systems shutting down without warning, swarms of drones overhead and a small number of US soldiers descending by helicopter. The guard claims fewer than two dozen attackers, backed by superior technology, overwhelmed hundreds of defenders.

Most striking is his description of what he believed was a “sound wave" or sonic weapon, saying an intense force caused bleeding, disorientation and collapse among Venezuelan troops, leaving them unable to fight. “Those twenty men, without a single casualty, killed hundreds of us," the guard said, warning other countries against confronting the United States.

The post gained wider attention after it was reposted by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who urged followers to read it, amplifying its reach.

The security guard also described that the attack unfolded in stages, beginning with what he says was the sudden appearance of drones after radar systems failed.

He claims a small number of helicopters followed, deploying what he estimated to be around 20 soldiers. Despite their limited numbers, he said the troops appeared far more technologically advanced than anything Venezuelan forces had previously encountered.

The guard goes on to describe what he calls a one-sided battle, saying hundreds of defenders were overwhelmed within minutes. He alleges the attackers fired with extreme speed and precision, claiming it felt as though each soldier was shooting “hundreds of rounds per minute", leaving little opportunity for resistance. “We had no chance," he said, describing the encounter as a massacre rather than a fight.

While the claims in the viral account cannot be independently verified, they echo the scale and speed of the US operation described by Agence France-Presse. According to AFP, the United States launched airstrikes shortly before 2 am on Saturday, hitting key military targets including Fort Tiuna, Venezuela’s largest military complex and La Carlota airbase near Caracas.

US General Dan Caine said “Operation Absolute Resolve" was aimed solely at capturing Maduro, with airstrikes clearing the way for helicopters used in the raid. The operation involved more than 150 aircraft and months of preparation, he said.

Maduro, who had ruled Venezuela for 12 years and carried a $50 million US bounty, was seized and flown to New York along with his wife to face drugs and weapons charges. President Donald Trump said no US soldiers were killed, though he later suggested that foreign fighters protecting Maduro had died.
