2026 opens with a power-packed Bengali web series slate blending legacy, mystery and new voices

Bengal’s leading Bengali streaming space steps into 2026 with an ambitious slate of original storytelling, setting the tone for a year rich in mystery, drama and socially resonant narratives.

The platform has announced 12 upcoming web series this year, combining the familiarity of six returning, much-loved franchises with six brand-new originals that promise fresh perspectives and bold themes.The new lineup spans genres—from spine-chilling thrillers and investigative dramas to folklore-inspired mysteries and stories of women confronting adversity—reflecting a clear focus on layered characters and strong narrative depth that appeal to audiences both within Bengal and across the global diaspora.Among the returning franchises are several audience favourites. Kaalratri 2, directed by Ayan Chakraborti and starring Soumitrisha, returns with darker twists, while Nikosh Chhaya 2 brings back director Sayantan Ghosal with a formidable cast including Chiranjeet Chakrabarti, Kanchan Mullick and Surangana Bandyopadhyay. The third seasons of Montu Pilot and Advocate Achinta Aich promise to further expand their cult following, while Eken Babu: Purulia-e-Pakrao and Birangana 2 continue their respective journeys into crime, investigation and justice.

Alongside these familiar titles, six new originals mark an important creative expansion. Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s Adalat O Ekti Meye, starring Koushani Mukherjee, tackles workplace harassment through a deeply personal lens. Thakumar Jhuli, directed by Ayan Chakraborti and featuring Srabanti Chatterjee, reimagines folklore with mystery at its core. Parambrata Chattopadhyay directs Roktofolok, with Saswata Chatterjee in a pivotal role, while Queens, helmed by Nirjhar Mitra and starring Mimi Chakraborty, explores power and ambition. Detective fiction finds a new avatar in Goyenda Aditya Majumdar, directed by Aritra Sen, and the atmospheric thriller Kuheli, directed by Aditi Roy, stars Riddhima Ghosh, Susmita Dey and Angana Roy.Actors from the upcoming projects also shared their excitement. Koushani Mukherjee described Adalat O Ekti Meye as a story that belongs to “me, you, and everyone who has faced harassment in their workplace.” Parambrata Chattopadhyay spoke about beginning a “new innings” as an actor in Goyenda Aditya Majumdar, portraying an ordinary man who becomes extraordinary when he turns detective. Ritwick Chakraborty expressed gratitude for the love shown to his character as he returns in Advocate Achinta Aich 3, while Riddhima Ghosh hinted at layered secrets and unsettling truths in the mountain-set Kuheli. Srabanti revealed a new on-screen avatar as a grandmother in Thakumar Jhuli, and Sandipta Sen promised higher stakes and more dangerous criminals in Birangana 2.With this diverse slate of 12 series, 2026 shapes up to be a year where legacy franchises meet new creative voices, offering stories deeply rooted in Bengal’s cultural fabric while speaking to universal emotions and conflicts far beyond its borders.
