3 minors lure 8-year-old girl to godown, rape her in Delhi; detained

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three boys after luring her to a godown near her house in southeast Delhi’s Okhla, police said on Monday. The accused, aged between 12 and 13 years, have been detained following the incident.

According to police, the girl alleged that the boys – one being a 12-year-old and the remaining two aged 13 – took her to a godown in Okhla Phase-II on March 12 and 13 during the daytime. She told investigators that the accused approached her on the road, lured her to a godown, removed her undergarments and took turns to rape her.

The matter came to light after a PCR call was received on March 14 at Okhla Industrial Area Police Station regarding the alleged sexual assault of a minor. A police team immediately rushed to the spot and began an enquiry.

Considering the sensitive nature of the case, a woman officer was associated with the probe. The victim was later taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for medical examination, where doctors recorded a history of sexual assault.

Based on the girl’s statement, police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Police said the three juveniles were detained within hours of the case being registered and added that further investigation is underway.
