4 arrested for preparing and selling spurious desi ghee

BATHINDA: Moga police arrested four people accused of preparing spurious desi ghee at a home in Baghapurana town of Moga district and selling it directly to consumers at their doorsteps.

Police recovered wrappers from some desi ghee manufacturing companies.Upon receiving information, officials from the health department and the police conducted a raid at a home in Baghapurana where spurious desi ghee was being prepared by mixing chemicals in Dalda ghee and refined oil.The officials involved in the raid said that during the raid, it was found that some people were preparing spurious desi ghee in a home by turning it into a makeshift factory. The authorities recovered nearly 2 quintals of spurious desi ghee and 200 empty boxes of 1 litre, apart from wrappers from Sifti, Rajbhog, and Rudra brands.Those arrested were selling spurious desi ghee by reaching out to people at their doorsteps. A case under relevant sections was registered at Baghapurana police station.
