Tourism minister R Rajendran and others
SALEM: As many as 5,644 development projects have been completed in the Omalur panchayat union in Salem district during the present DMK rule, said tourism minister R Rajendran on Monday.
He said chief minister M K Stalin has allocated Rs 344 crore for the Omalur panchayat union in the last four years.The minister was speaking after launching construction of a new building for the Omalur panchayat union office. The building is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5.90 crore.He said Stalin was announcing and executing various initiatives for the advancement and welfare of the community.Funds were allocated for several initiatives in the panchayat union.
They included construction of new office buildings and roads and provision of water supply connections in rural regions. Work on sewerage canals was also under way, he said.He said 18 projects worth Rs 6.78 crore were executed under the Rural Roads Development Scheme. Various initiatives worth Rs 248 crore have been undertaken under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. A total of 88 infrastructure projects worth Rs 235 crore have been completed under the School Infrastructure Development Scheme, and 397 projects worth Rs 11.42 crore are also being implemented in the Omalur panchayat union.
The minister said primary health centre projects have been initiated at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore in Mullichettipatty, Tholasampatty panchayat and Thumbipadi panchayat.District collector R Brindha Devi, Salem West MLA R Arul, additional collector N Ponmani and others were present.
