A memory play that traces the emotional landscape of a Bengali family, Seasons of Love unfolds between Kolkata and Chicago. Spanning three generations, the narrative explores how love, loss, and memory shape relationships when dementia and physical distance begin to alter familiar bonds.
Structured around the rhythm of four seasons, the play moves fluidly across time and geography, reflecting the inner worlds of its characters as much as their shared history. The play is set to be staged on January 9, 10, 11 and 16, 17, 18, 2026 at Padatik Theatre. Written by Ahon Gooptu and directed by Vikram Iyengar, the play draws from shared cultural touchstones such as Shakespeare and Rabindrasangeet, alongside a quiet faith in the divine, to examine how families search for continuity amid change. Developed between 2021 and 2023,the play has evolved through readings and performances in Kolkata, Chicago, and New York. Its return to Kolkata in 2026 presents the latest iteration of a work that reflects on homesickness, intergenerational ties, and the fragile act of holding on—to people, memories, and one another.
