Major changes from November 1: The Centre is set to roll out new rules from November 1, that could affect your financial decisions and day-to-day life. From bank nomination rules to Aadhaar update charges, and pension schemes, here is a list of key changes to look out for:

Bank nomination rules November 1

The amendments to the Banking Laws Act will come into effect from November, changing the bank nomination process.

The new change allows customers to name up to four simultaneous nominees for their accounts and locker items, and also specify the share or percentage of entitlement.

It also allows customers to specify successive nominees who will receive the entitlements after the death of the previously specified nominee.

The changes were brought in to avoid ownership-related disputes.

Aadhaar updates November 2025

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has waived off charges for mandatory biometric updates of the Aadhaar details of children. The waiver will remain in effect for a year.

Adults will be charged Rs 75 for updates to name, date of birth, address, or mobile number and Rs 125 for biometric updates like fingerprints.

Life certificate for pensioners

Retired central and state government employees must submit their Life Certificate for the year to their nearest bank branch by the end of November to avail of their pensions. Those who intend to switch from the National Pension Scheme (NPS) to the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) must also do so by the end of November.

Charges for SBI cardholders

SBI Card customers will be charged a 1 per cent fee for education-related payments via third party applications (like MobiKwik and CRED).

A 1 per cent charge will also be applied to transactions above Rs 1000 to recharge bank wallets.

PNB locker charges 2025

Punjab National Bank (PNB) will cut locker rent charges nationwide. The reduced charges, which will be notified on PNB website, will come into effect 30 days after the announcement.
