Serial and film actress, Chaitra, has allegedly been kidnapped by her estranged husband.
A film and serial actress has allegedly been kidnapped by her estranged husband in an bid to gain custody of their daughter in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Leela R, the sister of the actress Chaitra R, filed a complaint stating that the couple had been separated for the past seven to eight months due to marital issues.
While Harshvardhan, Chaitra’s estranged husband, resided in Hassan, Chaitra moved to a rented house on Magadi Road with their one-year-old daughter. The couple got married in 2023.
Despite the separation, Chaitra continued her work as a serial actress. On December 7, she informed her family that she was traveling to Mysuru for a shoot, which was allegedly a part of Harshvardhan’s plan.
According to the complaint, Harshvardhan, with the help of his associate Kaushik, lured Chaitra to the Mysuru Road Metro Station and forcibly taken her a car via NICE Road and the Bidadi route.
Around 10:30 am, Chaitra managed to alert a friend named Girish, who informed about her abduction to her family.
By the evening, Harshvardhan allegedly called Chaitra’s mother, Siddamma, admitting to the kidnapping and issuing a ultimatum: bring the child to a location he would specify, or Chaitra would not be released, NDTV reported.
He later contacted another relative, demanding that they bring the child to Arsikere, assuring that Chaitra would be released safely.
The scattered family members, who were located in Tiptur and Bengaluru, regrouped and approached the police. Based on Chaitra’s sister’s complaint, a case has been registered.
