The reel culture is growing fast across India. Every day, new videos flood social media, and many creators are ready to try anything to get noticed. But this growing trend is also raising serious questions about safety and responsibility.
A recent viral video from Agra has once again shown how the search for online attention can cross a line very quickly.
What happened on the Agra road
In the video shared online, two men were seen stopping a bus on a public road in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, just to record a reel. One of the men stood right in front of the bus and started doing push-ups on the road. The other man stood close by, looking straight into the camera as the video was being recorded.Because of this act, the bus had no choice but to stop, and traffic on the road came to a halt.
The reel was filmed openly on a public road, creating a risky situation for drivers, passengers, and the men themselves.“A reel in Agra showed a group stopping a bus and doing push-ups on a public road,” the caption on the video said.
When a reel turns into a police matter
After the video began circulating, the situation changed quickly. The same clip later showed the two men in police custody. This made it clear that the authorities had taken note of the stunt and acted on it.
The Uttar Pradesh Police shared the video on Instagram and explained that legal action had been taken after identifying the people involved.“Reel ka shauk, Real ka chalan. Taking cognisance, @AgraPolice identified the individuals and initiated legal action under relevant provisions. The road isn’t your content feed-don’t block traffic for likes,” the caption read. The post clearly stated that public roads cannot be used for social media content that puts others at risk.
Police send out a safety message
Along with showing the action taken, the police also shared a simple and direct message for the public. They asked people to think before attempting such stunts and to behave responsibly in public spaces.“Choose safety. Choose sense,” they added. The message focused on awareness and common sense in the age of reels.
Social media reacts to the video
As the video spread on Instagram, many users shared their reactions in the comments. Some used humour, while others supported the police for taking action. One user commented, “UP police bhi roast mode mai hai.”Another wrote, “Sabak ek ko, seekh baaki ke sabko.”A third user added, “Naya zamana naya style case solve karne ka.”The reactions showed how such incidents are being widely noticed and discussed online.Thumb image: Instagram
