Air Marshal Manish Khanna takes charge as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command

Air Marshal Manish Khanna took charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Air Command (SAC) on Sunday.

He was Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) at the South Western Command prior to the present appointment.

Commissioned in the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 6, 1986, Air Marhal Khanna is a category A qualified flying instructor. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, the Defence Services Staff College, the College of Air Warfare and the National Defence College.

He has over 4,000 hours of flying experience on fighter and trainer aircraft. He has rich operational experience in air defence, ground attack and strategic reconnaissance and electronic warfare. He has also undertaken an international assignment as Chief Flying Instructor with the Botswana Defence Forces.

In a career spanning almost four decades, the Air Marshal has held important command and staff appointments.
